Feb. 28 Famous London shop fights for survival... In the name of redevelopment, London may soon be losing one of her unique craft industries. Prestat, the famous chocolate shop at 24 South Molton Street, has been given notice to quit by their landlords, Dew Properties Ltd. At Prestat, the chocolates and truffles are actually made by hand on the premises, with recipes dating back to Napoleon III. The shop itself dates back to 1922. The owner, Mr. Neville Croft is fighting the notice, and has drawn up a petition from the local community with over 4, 000 signatures. Meanwhile, work at the shop goes on, and Suzie Allen, aged 70, has been making chocolates for 56 years now. I really love this job, said Mrs. Allan. I've always loved the thick, silky liquid and it really doesn't take a minute to wash it off my hands when I've finished work'. She is invaluable, said Mr. Croft. You can be sure we'll take her with us if we have to go. Suzie is hard to keep up with - she is almost quicker than her nimble fingers than the photographer's exposures
