Dec. 12, 1960 - Cheers with Cheese Ancient ceremony at Royal Hospital - Chelsea: The ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses was held yesterday at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea at which nine large cheeses were cut up and distributed to the Chelsea Pensioners - in honour of a 17th Century cheesemonger whose name has long since been forgotten but who supplied cheese to Londoners at 3d. per Lb. in 1691.
