Mar. 03, 1967 - A Butcher gives evening classes.: Mr. Ernest May is a dedicated butcher. It is not enough he is knowledgeable about meat, he wants his customers to be knowledgeable too. Last night, as he has done on many previous occasions after closing hours, he turned his shop into an evening class. For 90 minutes eh spoke on the virtues of different cuts of meet - particularly the cheaper outs. Some of his customers took pages of notes. Later they were shown how to prepare the meat. To round off the evening, the students dined on top rump of beef stuffed with mushrooms and onions. Delicious, they said. The idea of the classes was born one Sunday night when Mr. May stepped out of the pulpit at a nearby Baptist Church in Cowes, Isle of Wight, where he is a ly preacher. he said, The young winves club started off about meat prices, and it was soon obvious they know very little about meat. So I offered to give these talks. The idea grew. I now find that sometimes half the wives are not my own customers. I do not mind.
