Dec. 18, 1979 - Elizabeth Destraux wins bubble yum UK Championship.: Britain's first bubble gum blowing championship took place at the Salfridge Hotel, in London today. Nine finalists competed for the title, and the winner was Elizabeth Destraux, aged 14 from from Hydderfield, Yorks, with a bubble of 11 inches.
