Jan. 01, 1953 - ALMOND-EYED SONYA JOINS THE WELLS. It is unusual for Sadler's Wells to recruit a solo dancer from outside it's own organization but Dame Ninette de Valois has broken her unwritten rule by signing up 25-year old SONYA HANA, the half-Japanese dancer who appeared as the Siamese cat in the ballet Orlando at the Battersea Pleasure Gardens during Festival year.
