Aug. 08, 1959 - A.E. Matthews as umpire in Whisky - pouring contest and the drops off.: Eighty nine year old actor A.E. Matthews this afternoon took on the role of Umpire at Britain's first Scotch pouring contest held at Londondrry house. Competing were Britain's top bartenders. The competitors used shot glasses which have a white line painted around them - and they have to pour whisky exactly up to the line - without using a measure. Photo shows with his pet poodle - who looks as if is gasping for a drink, on his lap - A.E. Matthews has a short cat - nap between events during the contest this afternoon
