Dec. 19 Water Babies-Training For The Ballet Synchronized swimming schools-schools for water ballerinas-have been known for decades in other countries, but the idea has never caught on in Britain until now. The idea of bringing it to Britain came to Dawn Sagjek while she was studying Synchronizewd Swimming in Hollywood. the beginners are either non-swimmers or have very little knowledge of swimming. The club is made up of a mixed group of varied ability and age-the youget are seven-year-olds-operating at the Seymour Hall Swimming Baths in London. In the land training the children are taught to appreciate the feeling of moving in rhythmic patterns and exercises. Musical appreciation is fosterred as ballet plays an important part in synchronized swimming, these movement are included in land training and the children are given a musical theme to interpret. Dawn Zajek claims that the accent on Rhythm and breathing enhances her pupil's racing ability. Underwater dance steps- this is advanced stuff
