Ballet - Circus - Comedians - Dancers - Entertainers - Plays

Mar. 31 A very tasteless novelty from America: The dance with wooden legs: A new dance will be brought out from behind the scene of the greatest dancing-studio of North America Rosit and Denno'. It has the name Peg-Leg Dance'. The male dancer does not only dance with his partner but he also has a wooden leg over his right leg. The idea goes back to an event which happened about 100 years ago. When a Dominica n seaman saw the folk-dance Merengue in an inn in the harbour then he was so much seized by the rythm that he stood up and took part in the dancing. The people loudly applauded and imitated the clumsy and awkward dancing of the seaman. This way a new dance came into existence. When the owners of Rosits and Denno heared about the story then they hurried to create this dance in Montreal. This is bad taste which cannot be outdone if you are thinking of the many unhappy persons who lost a leg by accidents etc. and who new are wearing an artificial leg
