Sep. 09, 1961 - Seventy -year-old Former Ballet Star Teaches John Gilpin the Role of Harlequin: 70-year-old Madame Tamara Karsavina, former ballet Le Garnaval to teach John Gilpin to dance the role of Harlequin. The Ballet will be performed by the Western Theater Ballet on Thursday Sept. 14th, at Sadler's Wells Theater. Le Garnaval was originally created in 1910 and was first performed by the Diaghilev Company when Harlequin was danced by NIjinaky and Columbine by Madame Karsavina.
