1968 - Sherlock Holmes Society Members Arrive In Geneva For Tour Of Switzerland: About 40 members of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London, wearing 1891 dress - arrived in Geneva on Sunday, for a week's tour of Switzerland in the footsteps of their hero. 77 years ago, he and his faithful Watson made a tour of the Rhone Valley which led them to Meiringen, the Reichenback Falls and Holmes fateful last encounter with his arch-enemy, Moriarty. The tour of Switzerland has been arranged by the Swiss Tourist Office, Zurich and London, in collaboration with various organizations. At the moment Sherlock Holmes is being played by barrister Anthony Howlett - and Sir Paul Gore-Booth, head of the Diplomatic Service and a keen Holmesian, is expected to take over the role.
