Aug. 06, 1971 - August 6th, 1971 The Charity tightrope walk that failed 30-year-old Cologne spider-man Franz Josef Burbach today made an attempt to make an 820-feet tightrope walk between two warehouse 60-feet above the Thames near Tower Bridge. But the attempt which was in aid of spastics failed after a series of mishaps. First his balancing pole was damaged so he tried to walk without it, but he didn't get very far, so he decided to crawl across, an only manage just over half way before falling off into the water. Hitherto Franz has only tightrope walked the length of his garden in Palmer's Green.
