Nov. 11, 1978 - Hanging Fire Escapologist Alan Alan escaped from chains 100 ft above the Thames at Tower Bridge yesterday as the rope on which he hung burned away. The 52 year old performed the stunt suspended from a crane, to launch the third Circus World Championships which open in London next Monday December 11th.
