1956 - American Pianist Receives German Award Of Merit Ceremony At German Embassy: Andor Foldess the American pianist who is in London for a series of broadcasts on the Third Programme - this morning received the German Order of Merit award 1st. Class - from the German Ambassador to London herr Von Herwath. The award was made some time ago - but this is the first opportunity at which he could receive it. It is unique for an artiste to receive this award which is usually reserved for diplomats etc
