Oct. 31, 1955 - Highlanders make Tokyo debut: The bearded bagpiper and his colleagues become the focus of public attention as they make their debut at Tokyo's Hibiya Park recently. The awestruck little old man and the kimonced woman were among hundred of Tokyoite who were seeing the famous highlanders in colorful kilts and the bag pies for the first time in their life. Although the bagpipers are familiar on the streets of Hongkong and other British territories, this was the first time that the Highlanders performed in public in the Japanese capital. The men stationed with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders in Korea, were flown to Tokyo to participate in the UN day celebrations
