Feb. 29 Girl's Pipe Band Formed In A London Suburb: The skir of the pipes is a now a familier sound at Plumstead, where London Scots who attend the Lochnagar School of Highland Dancing, are now forming their own Pipe Band under their teacher Mrs. Gladys Whittall, who has spent400 of her own money on pipes. Already the band has had a successful B.B.C. audition, played at several charity performances etc. Practice take place at the Dancing School in the evening. The members ages very from 7 to 25, with 9 year old Donald as their mascot. Other instructors who give heir time are ex-Scots Guards Bandsman Gordon Shand and Mr. Adam Ormiston from Montrose, who has played for 35 years. Members of the band are Mrs. Whittell's children Sheila 13; Elaine 10 and Norman 8. The band is now 16 strong.
