Jun. 06, 1965 - The Man They Didn't Notice Lighting Up At London Airport: There are some things in the world which, when associated with a particular personality, cease in that rare instance to have a separate identity of their own. They become so familiar a part of the person as to take on, in the eyes of the world, something of his very qualities. It may be a hat, or a walking stick, or in the case of Bing Crosby, a pipe. Which was why yesterday no one really took any notice at London Airport when Mr. Crosby, flying into Britain from his Irish Derby victory as co-owner of the horse Meadow Court, took out a match and lit his pipe. Admittedly it was on the apron of the airport in the centre of a ring of fuel tankers - which comes very near to the top of Things You Must Not Do. As an airport spokesman explained We're all so used to seeing him with a pipe, no one spotted his lapse. Photo shows Bing Crosby lights his pipe among the fuel tankers at London Airport
