Oct. 10, 1967 - Ancient trumpet fetches £1, 600: A 300-year old brass trumpet with silver mounts - made by Simon Beale, state trumpeter to both Cronwell and Charles II, was sold at Christie's today for £1, 600. The trumpet has a legend - it is believed to bring its owner ill luck if it is not blown regularly. For over 200 years it was owned by the Earls of Dartmouth. Photo shows Mr. Eric Halfpenny, a musicologist, expert on trumpets - seen playing a fanfare on the trumpet before the bidding at Christie's today
