Oct. 14, 1969 - Sol Hurok signs new artist in London: The American cellist, 23-year-old Christine Walevska, today signed a three-year contract and a 200, 000 guarantee with famous impresarios Sol Hurok. Mr. Hurok is new in London and Whilst here will finalize the contract with Miss Walevska. Mr. Hurok has chosen London to sign the contract because of her association with this country. Her father was born in London and was a connoisseur and dealer in rare violins and cello and her mother was fine Violinist. Her grandfather Anten Walevska was the official Cabinet Maker to Edward VII, and Miss Walevska herself born in Los Angeles first studied the cello with her father at the age of mine. Since her eighteenth birthday, Christine Walevska had spent most of her time playing in Europe, and in South America.
