1976 - Max Greger Becomes 50 Years Old: On April 2nd 1976, one of the most popular band leaders of West-Germany, Max Greger (picture) will become fifty years old. He was born in Munich, where he also attended conservatory - learned to play the Claiborne and the saxophone. In the nightclubs old past-war Munich, he played with stars like Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Stan Kenton, which were invaluable experiences for the young musician. 948 he established his first band, the Enzianb Sextett'. The breakthrough for the group was a concert tour in the Soviet Union in 1959, being the first Western band to play there. In 1963 the band was entered into an agreement by the German television and appeared frequently on the screen since them. Meanwhile, Max Gregor has recorded 80 long play records
