Jun. 06, 1959 - Liberace Awarded8, 000 Damages. Wins Libel Case Against Newspaper And Columnist: The libel case brought by American pianist Liberace ended today at the High Court - when he was awarded8, 000 damages against the London Daily Mirror and Columnist William Connor ('Cassandra'). The case arose out of articles in the Daily Mirror - written by Cassandra. The Jury found that words in one of the articles indicated that Liberace was homosexual. They also found that the words were not true and were not fair comment. Photo shows Liberace is surrounded by cameramen as he left after the case at the Law Courts today
