Banner Forbutt, one wheel cycle, ladder not needed
Feb. 26 A NICE SENSE OF BALANCE: AND A LADDER ISN'T NEEDED: Banner Forbutt, appearing at Brighton's Ice Circus, saves the maintenance staff a job, by putting up his two announcements in front of the theatre. Balancing on his one wheel cycle, he makes a ladder unnecessary. BANNER FORBUTT'S JOB IS ALWAYS IN THE BALANCE: Riding a one-wheel cycle needs a nice sense of balance. Keeping himself eight feet off the ground, up a slender shaft mounted on a single wheel, twisting the little pedals, this magician of the wheel is a constant source of amusement to those who see Brighton's Ice Circus, and to local citizens who are now getting used to seeing him make his way to and from the theatre on his strange vehicle. The local police wave him on just as if he was any other cyclist, and don't be surprised if you ride on the top deck of a bus and and he leans over the side and asks you for a light. The technique of balancing, and riding backwards and forwards on the specially made cycle took Banner years of thought, experiment and practice. Today, it comes as second nature to him
