Barbara Valentin, German actress, filming in Yugoslavia
Oct. 10, 1959 - German sex-bomb Barbara Valentin: Hollywood-manager John Harris helped Barbara Valentin to get an education-contract with the Rapid producer Hartwig. Both told her to use all her sex-appeal in the German film-business. She got two small parts in Rapid productions and one day the illustrated press became interested in her. Harris tried Hollywood methods such as lowering her decolletes and shortening her skirts. At the Berlin film festivals Harris arranged a special show with uproar methods but this did not seem to be very good for the young artist. The illustrated papers were very annoyed and so her pictures were printed in all the magazines. That was exactly what her teacher wanted. After that she got her first leading part in the Rapid production of Ein Toter hing in Netz (A Dead Man in the Net) which is being made in Yugoslavia. Then she will appear in Venus in the Sun and after that probably in a Cinelux-film called Act-modell'. It is not very difficult to imagine how the German sex bomb will have to appear in this picture. In Vienna and Munich it has been heard that producer Antel wants to give her the leading part in Strassenmadchen (Girl in the Street). Kurt Ulrich, too, tries to make a contract with Barbara Valentin for UFA Film. For John Harris's film Operation Glamour she is already engaged to Hollywood. We have to wait and see if she will become as well known as Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield.
