Aug. 08, 1974 - Westland to introduce new helicopter.: A new high-speed, long-range civil helicopter is to be introduced by Westland Helicopters. The new Westland 606 14-place helicopter will be shown for the first time at Farnborough 75 next month in full-scale mock-up form in the Westland stand. Nos in the design stage, the Westland 606 a scheduled to make its first flight in December 1975 with full C.A.A. certification and first deliveries to customers in the following year. market research shows initial sales of over 100 Westland 606 helicopters of which about 50 per cent are expected to be in the United States. The main marketing area will be to operators supporting the off-shore oil and public service users at home and abroad. The Westland 606 is planned to be offered with either toe Rolls-Royce Gem turbines, or to United Aircraft of Canada Ltd Pt. 6-34 engines.
