Jun. 06, 1964 - A Cockney Becomes A Beatle: There is a stranger in the camp of the Merseyside Beatles. Yesterday, drummer Ringo Starr collapsed during a rehearsal in London, and was taken to hospital suffering from Laryngitis. Today, the Beatles are due to fly from London to Copenhagen to begin a tour, so their manager Brian Epstein decided that the best solution to the problem was to recruit a substitute, so Londoner Jimmy Nicol - who very conveniently has a Beatle-style haircut - was rushed to the studios to rehearse with the group.
