: The Beatles with a different drummer, Jimmie Nicol

The Beatles with a different drummer, Jimmie Nicol

Jun. 06, 1964 - A Cockney Becomes A Beatle: There is a stranger in the camp of the Merseyside Beatles. Yesterday, drummer Ringo Starr collapsed during a rehearsal in London, and was taken to hospital suffering from Laryngitis. Today, the Beatles are due to fly from London to Copenhagen to begin a tour, so their manager Brian Epstein decided that the best solution to the problem was to recruit a substitute, so Londoner Jimmy Nicol - who very conveniently has a Beatle-style haircut - was rushed to the studios to rehearse with the group. Jimmy has played with many groups, including the Oscar Rabin and Cyril Stapleton bands. Photo shows The remaining three Beatles rehearse with their new drummer Jimmy Nicol in London yesterday
