Nov. 11, 1955 - Cyprus State of Emergency - Terrorists throw bomb during Caledonial ball in Nicosia; A few hours after Field Marshal Sir John Harding Governor and Commander in Chief in Cyprus had declared a state of emergency in the terror ridden island of a bomb was thrown into a ballroom at the Ledra Palace Hotel, Nicosia, during a Caledonian Ball. A number of people were injured. The bomb was aimed at the top table usually occupied by Sir John Harding but he was not present at the time. Photo Shows Dancer leave the ballroom after the bomb had smashed one of the radiators causing a flood at the Ledra Palace Hotel last night
