Jul. 07, 1962 - Lady Godiva rides again through the streets of Coventry: Transparent briefs worn under her long tresses were all that protected 31-year-old Joyce Parker from the gaze of thousands of peeping toms when as lady Godiva she rode a white horse through the streets of Coventry during the town's carnival yesterday. Mrs. Parker has one son and her husband is ex-squadron-leader George Parker, who is lay director of the christian stewardship in the Coventry diocese. The first lady Godiva is supposed to have ridden through the streets of Coventry unclothed to save the 11th century citizens from the heavy taxes levied by her husband, Earl Leofric.
