Feb. 02, 1963 - New £5 notes for circulation Phillida Stone she modeled for Britannia: It was announced yesterday that a new style of £5 note is to be issued tomorrow on which the figure of Britannia has a new youthful look. The secret of this is her model eighteen year old Phillida Stone daughter of Mr. Reynolds stone, the man who designed the new blue note. Mr, Stone said that there is no resemblance between Britannia and Phillida for he only used her as his basic model and did not attempt an exact likeness. One point about the new notes is that the traditional £ sign has been dropped altogether and thenote is smaller than the present one. Photo shows Phillida Stone who modelled for her father's design of Britannia is a student at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford
