Oct. 10, 1966 - Mini-skirted models have their sccoters banned.: after several complaints, four mini-skirted models were told: take your scooters and buzz off. But the complaints weren't about the mini-skirts worn by the girls as they ran at London's Olympia. It seems visitors were more worried at the way the girls were riding the 30 m.p.h. electric scooters inside the hall. The end came of numerous reports of near misses - and after two girls fell off their machines showing more than a discreet amount of leg. An exhibition spokesman said: No action about the mini-skirts was taken. He added that there had been trouble over the scooters. These were banned because of the danger to visitors and exhibitors at the Exhibition, he said. One of the messengers, 22-year old Christine Hurrell said: We almost hit a few people by mistake. However, I think the real complaint was about our mini hemlines. Meanwhile, some exhibitors suggested to the exhibition: organiser that she the hemlines of two girls demonstrating office equipment were a trifle high, but after making an inspection he said.
