Aug. 27, 1966 - Meet the new Miss Margate : Miss Joan Ashley, a 21 - year-old fashion model, of Mill Hill, London, was elected Miss Margate from twenty finalists during the competition held at the Winter Gardens, Margate, yesterday. This was Joan's fourth attempt at the title - she was runner up last year. She will be entering the Miss Great Britain competition in a few days time.
