Feb. 02, 1968 - Major breakthrough in Menswear field.: A major breakthrough ins the menswear field was revealed at the Hilton Hotel today, when Truman of London launched at first-ever range of knitted business suits. Called The E-type, the suit Extraordinary, these new clothes are washable, crease and stain resistant and water repellent. Made from special types of 100 percent Dacron polyester filament yarn, which give exceptional durability, the suits have the appearance of normal woven ones. There is also a range of topcoats in the same fabric. The suits can be hand-washed and drip-dried. This breakthrough has been achieved by technologists of Hawick Jersey Fabrics Limite who make the fabric, working in collaboration with Du Pont technical service personnel. Price of the suit is 25 gns. Photo shows an executive of the Du Pont Company, who has such faith in the new water repellent suit - which dries in two hours - that he tried it out in Regent's Park lake today. as shown
