May 05, 1968 - Opening I was Lord KItchener's thing: John Paul, propreitor of the I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet shops in Piccadily Circus and Fouberts Place, today opened his third shop. The new shop will stock fashion wear for men and women and will also carry a selection of the novelty items for which the Kitchener shops ar3e best known. This season the shop will feature American Indian and other clothing. To celebrate the opening of the shop and to launch the new Red Indian suede jackets and other clothing. To celebrate the opening of the shop and to launch the new Red Indian fashions, Chief Hunkeshnee (an honorary members of Sitting Bulls Family) and Kim Heh Aka Tonka attended the reception with a troup from the Sioux Indian Dancers Society. Wearing full costumes and ceremonial paint they marked the opening with the smoking of the ceremonial pipe and performed the Kolah friendship (things go better with the Kolah dance) and the Eagle Dances. At a meeting held earlier this month at the Regent Street offices of I was Lord Kitchener's Valet, it was decided to disassociate the new shop from the image of selling novelty items, particularly is it would stock a that the name for the new shop, in King's Road, Chelsea, should be I was Lord Kitchener's thing. Photo shows back view of some of the Indians walking down King's Road to the Opening ceremony of the new shop today
