1970 - Yvonne is the new Miss England: Blue eyed blonde Yvonne Ormes became the new Miss England last night. Twenty one year old Yvonne, a hairdresser and part time model, from Nantwich, Cheshire, beat 28 other beauties for the title at the contest held at the Lyceum Ballroom in London. Yvonne's prize includes £1, 000 and entry into this year's Miss Universe and Miss United Kingdom competitions.
