Aug. 08, 1971 - Sailors at Fashion Parade of Proposed New Uniforms: About 400 sailors were able to see and comment on possible new uniforms at Portsmouth today. A recent attitude survey in the Fleet Indicated there was no strong feeling for a move away from the traditional square rig but that it could certainly be made easier to put on take off and maintain. Following this seven new designs have been considered and these were modelled alongside the existing uniform. The models were serving sailors. Colours are basically unchanged, navy-blue, white and gold. A group of Wrens were invited to give the female point of view. Photo shows a Sailor on the left is seen wearing the proposed new uniform while a leading Seaman in the old uniform looks on the girl is off duty Wren Marcia Nicoll aged 18
