Beethoven busts made in Bonn, Germany, for anniversary

Jun. 06, 1970 - They go all over the world.: these Beethoven busts of which, as a whole, 145 items have been produced in the workshop of the District Museum of Bonn. Werner Maslaukowsky, head of this workshop, who has absolved an apprenticeship as a chemical engineer, at first made a head from India rubber, according to a model by the Cologne sculptor J.B. Sohreiber, which was then cast out with plaster. Subsequently each bust was given a manual finish. The works of art, made on the occasion of Ludwig van Beethoven's 200th anniversary on Dec. 16th, 1970, will be dispatched to the embassies and Goethe institutes in America, Africa, and Asia
