Jan. 01, 1970 - The Hobby of the Mountaineer: The honoured mountaineer and master of sports Pancho Tomov is one of the popular Bulgarian mountaineers. He is fifty now but he has preserved in his heart the pure-heartedness and spontaneity of his childhood. Tomov has gone through all our mountains. He has climbed the Austrian and Jugoslav Alpes, the Polish and Czechoslavak Tatres, the Rumanian Carpathian mountains, the Caucas mountains. Charmed by nature, he begins to admire not only the might and power of the rocky peaks, the tranquility of the lush meadows the legends about the high peaks and deep circuses but the beauty of the various formations of nature as well. A stone ar a tree can incite his imagination and aesthetic feeling. In the tangle of the ugly dwarf-pine he discovers the forms of disappeared and now-living animals; in the forms of the rounded stones a sculptural figure; in the mushrooms the exquisite forms of the woman's body. An artistic hobby transforming he unconscious in consciousness; the rest in movement the dreams in original works of art. Photo shows Pancho Tomov with one of his works
