Sep. 09, 1952 - The First Bible Printed in Standard Swahili leaves London for East Africa by Comet Liner: The first bible printed in standard Swahili was handed over to Captain of the Comet Liner at London Airport this afternoon by 11 year old Olive Harris of the Good New Transport :Swahili for transport to East Africa. This is the first time that the bible has been printer in Swahili and it is the work of Ganon A.B. Hellies and Canon H.J. Butcher the first edition totals 50, 000 copies. Photo shows Olive Harris reading the inscription on the bible which reads Presented to St. Stephens Church, Nairobi at London Airport this afternoon
