Sep. 09, 1952 - 9-9-52 The first bible printed in standard Swahili leaves London for East Africa by Comet Liner The first bible printed in standard Swahili was handed over to the Captain of the comet Netliner at London Airport this afternoon by 11 year old Olive Harris of the Good News Transport Swahili for transport to East Africa. This is the first time that the bible has been printed in Swahili and it is the work of Canon A.B. Helliet and Canon H.J. Butcher. The first edition totals 50, 000 copies.
