Nov. 22, 1949 - Vicar's Bottle Party: The Rev. Fernley Parkhouse, rector of Elsted, Sussex, is collecting bottles -full ones - for a bottle party in the village hall. The bottles are not to be drunk in the hall; they will be sold to raise funds to build a smaller church (the present large one has unsafe foundations). Mr. Parkhouse has received gift bottles from all over the country ranging from champagne to a hot water bottle, and his collection now includes saces, salad cream, disinfectant, olives and coffee besides whiskey, port and cider
