May 19, 1953 - Beating The bounds of the Savoy Liberty. Bumping the Choir Boy.: The traditional Beating the Bounds of the Savoy Liberty took place this morning. The liberty extends from Shell Mox House to Temple Bar, and from the Thames to approximately the north side of the Strend. After a short service at the Queen's Chapel of the Savoy- the Jurymen Best the Bounds - led by the beadle in cocked hat and red coat and carrying a silver headed staff made in 1702. Photo shows Eleven year old Alan Craig of the Elephant and Castle - one of the choir boys is bumped in traditional style during the ceremonies on the Embankment - near Cleopatre's Needle
