Oct. 10, 1952 - The Pope's Call For A spiritual Crusade: The Pope yesterday addressed from the steps of St. Peter's Rome, 150, 000 visitors to the 30 th anniversary celebrations of the Union of Italian Men's Catholic Action. he spoke of the work that the members of the Catholic Action had to do with combating the forces of materialism and especially in prventing calumies against the church. When he said that there were those who maintained that the church wanted the exploitation of the people and who wished for war, there was a road of indignation from the crowd. His Holiness reminded them that last Springs he had given the people of Rome the mission of bringing about a new spiritual renaissance and he now asked that the crusade be carried forward to its second stage, which was that of a world wide movement.
