Oct. 10, 1955 - Westminster Cathedral Appeal.: His Eminence Cardinal Griffin, Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster has decided to open an appeal for funds to continue work on Bentlay's original designs for Westminster Cathedral. The Appeal was officially launched this morning. The sum which is required to enabled a limited amount to work to be done is ?250, 000, anx although the Appeal is primarily aimed at the Roman Catholic population, it is hoped to rouse the attention if everyone regardless of their religious persuasions to take an interest in the further completion of a famous London landmark and what is to many a national munument. At a press Conference in the Throne Rome of Archbishop's House, Westminster, this morning. The Duke of Norfolk, Chairman of the Westminster Cathedral Appeal Fund Committee supported Cardinal Griffin, who gave full details of the Appeal.
