U Nu the Prime Minister of Burma and many of his Ministers recently led a widespread campaign throughout the country for prayers and recitation of the Buddhist scripture to pray for rain to end the threatened heat wave; drought and water famine.. The prayers offered by Buddhist monks - Ministers and people in all pagodas throughout the country - and the prayers were immediately answered by torrential rains on the city of Rangoon.
