Feb. 26 Shrine To Our Lady Of The Hudson: This Shrine to our lady of the Hudson was dedicated on the grounds of the church of the Presentation here as a memorial to tug boatmen who lost their lives in inland waters. It was conceived by Port Ewen Boatmen whose families have been employed on the river for the past 100 years. Center of the shrine is a six-foot high bluestone statue of the Virgin Mary Holding a miniature tugboat, erected on a six-foot pedestal. The statue, located on the west bank of the Hudson, is visible from boats playing the river. It faces New York City, 90 miles to the south. Among those who contributed funds for the Shrine were the International Longshoremen's Association Local 333 of that union's united Marine division; Thirteen separate towing and transportation companies and numerous individuals
