Feb. 28 Mechanically minded nuns: Nuns are generally happy people, their lives flowing smoothly and peacefully and the nuns of Ladywell Convent, Godalming, Surrey are no exception. Perhaps these Franciscan nuns do not conform to the conventional image of the nun in so far as they are mechanically minded to a degree that may well be the envy of many a lay person. The nuns at Ladywell Convent do not believe is dreaming their lives away, they like to be active. In fact they are great builders: they built their own printing works, their own farm with dairy, barns and piggeries. Photo shows some of the activities of the nuns during a course of their working day. The nuns at Ladywell convent are expert at all kinds of mechanical jobs normally not associated with nuns.
