Feb. 28 Trains As Played By The Reverends Of Durham On Ice: They don't actually admit to praying for the stuff. But when the Lord sends Ice to Ushaw in County Durham, you'd swear you could hear a chorus of Hallelujahs rising to the heavens. The unchanted thanks come, not surprisingly from Ushaw College, where Roman catholic priests are trained. And which has a huge pond in its grounds. In bitter times such as these, brother, the pond freezes over. the college president decrees a day's holiday (for which he justly receives rousing cheers) and the entires college takes to the Ice. The games the young trainee priests take part in is called Trains on ice and ends when the leading reverend halts abruptly, thereby causing a pile-up. Photo shows. The line of young trainee persist at speed on the ice in the College Pond at Ushaw County Durham
