Dec. 12, 1961 - Bow Bells Ring Out Again: For the first time in 22 years, Londoners once again heard the sound of Bow Bells. The spire of St. Mary-le-Bow in Cheapside was destroyed by bombing during the war and has ow been rebuilt and newly-cast bells have been rebuilt and newly-cast bells have been hung. They will be officially rung by Prince Philip on December 20th to mark the restoration of the famous church, The bells were tested last night.
