May 05, 1963 - Beating the bounds.: The ancient custom of Beating the Bounds was carried out around the boundaries of the Tower of London this morning. The choirboy leave the Royal Chapel and are led around the Boundaries by the Chief Wardet of the tower. When they reach each boundary point, they beat it with sticks - it used to be the boys themselves that were beaten - so that they shall know where the points are. Photo shows Whack it Boys is the traditional cry and these boys are doing just that
