Feb. 02, 1965 - First Egyptian Monk To Become A Cardinal At The Vatican: Egyptian Monk Stephanus - recently elected by Pope Paul VI as a Cardinal - is the first Egyptian Monk so appointed. he was born in Cairo on Feb 22. 1904 - completed his secondary studies in 1923 - studies Political Sciences in France - become a priest in France in 1939. Appointed Bishop Assistant in 1948 - and Patriarch of the Catholic Church in 1958. he speaks French - English Italian-Latin-Greek-Hebrew and Arabic.
