May 05, 1965 - Tea Break On The Dome OF St. Paul's. The last stage of the gigantic task of cleaning London's St. Paul's Cathedral, is being carried out on the lead dome, 300 feet above London. Scrubbing 250 years encrusted grime off the dome, which has never been cleaned before, is hard work, and to get scaffolding on the dome at all was a major engineering feat. Eric Hartshorn (left) and John Boniface are glad to get a break for a mug of tea and a game of cards. Eric and his mates are finding wartime shrapnel embedded in the lead and the scratched names of men who completed the dome in 1710
