Sep. 09, 1965 - 6, 000 miles for a christening: A G.I. bride flew more than 6, 000 miles just to have her son christened in England. The ceremony took place at St. Peter's Church, Harold Wood, Romford, Essex, where Hal and Ann Swanson married six years ago. Their romantic trip back to the church for the christening of their 21 months old son, Russell, cost them £700. But, it was worth it, said Mrs. Swanson for she was reunited with nearly all the relatives she last saw at her wedding in 1959. Mrs. Swanson met her husband, now a 31 year old aerospace engineer, while he was serving with the American Air Force in Britain. The couple now live in Los Angeles.
